Higher educational attainment often means higher earnings potential. The ages of 18-24 are critical years when most young people leave high school and purse higher education or enter the workforce. In Cuyahoga County 58% of young adults living in the suburbs have attended at least some college, compared to 45% of young adults in Cleveland. An individual with a bachelor’s degree can expect to earn nearly $1 million more over the course of their career.

Assumes a 40-year career after graduation. Looks at the difference in median wage for various levels of educational attainment. $22,784 per year x 40 years = $911,360.
