START INTERTWINED

When you think of poverty, you probably think of the visible signs that we see on the news or in the streets. These visible signs need immediate attention — but what we don’t see or think about is why people end up in poverty in the first place. Poverty is much like a developing plant, with the deep root causes growing and sprouting into visible problems. Using the concept of a tree, Intertwined illustrates this cycle of poverty and aims to inspire action from the community through education to create lasting change.

Understanding the system of poverty and the connections between us.

Examining the root causes and symptoms of poverty is the first step in breaking the cycle.

When you START INTERTWINED, you will get a close look at the state of poverty Northeast Ohio. Navigate the tree by clicking on branch labels to explore the topics and get a comprehensive picture of the symptoms of the poverty cycle, and how we can help people currently in need.
