Death by despair is often related to ACEs. Causes of death by despair include unintentional drug overdoses, intentional self-harm like suicide, or chronic liver disease/cirrhosis. 

These deaths may be preventable with effective behavioral health treatment and services to reduce harm from addiction and address mental health.
