State - Poverty rate by age group - Ohio (1980-2018)

Ohio's poverty rate has held steady over several decades before declining during the Great Recession of 2008 and then showed little forward movement.

The poverty rates for older adults track lower than other groups because of how the U.S. Census Bureau calculates poverty and because of policies that help various groups make ends meet.
