For many, housing security is a growing concern

In July 2020, the percentage of those with no confidence that they could pay the rent doubled. More than 400,000 Ohio renters could be at risk of losing their homes.

Renters in Ohio were twice as likely to state they have no confidence in their ability to make their next month’s housing payment in July as they were at the end of April. One-in-five renters had no confidence, amounting to more than 400,000 of Ohio’s 2.1 million renter. With many residents unable to pay their rent, it is projected that be as many as 86,000 ADDITIONAL evictions in Cuyahoga County are possible due to COVID-19.
