Accomplishments - August A. Napoli

August A. Napoli joined United Way as its President and CEO in June 2016 and has been responsible for a number of noteworthy accomplishments as part of the organization’s overall transformation, including:

  • bringing new methods and rigor to the Community Investment process through the new, data-driven Community Hub for Basic Needs which addresses the “here and now” needs of Greater Clevelanders;
  • the successful launch of the Impact Institute, representing the cross-sector collaborative energy needed to create proactive, long-term strategies and solutions to major issues affecting those in poverty like housing stability and early learning;
  • creating a new era of collaborative partnerships and donor connection to change the essential understanding of and conversation about those who live in poverty;
  • elevating United Way’s standing as a trusted and leading voice for those who live in poverty through an active public policy agenda which focuses on local and state-wide issues; and speaking out to raise awareness about one of poverty’s major root causes, systemic racism, and to effect long-term change.
